Salome Kappelin (1995) is a multidisciplinary artist who integrates fashion, visual and graphic art, costume and set-design with the craftmanship of shoemaking and painting. Salomes graduate collection from Central Saint Martins womenswear, was the sole recepient of the ‘Models 1’ scholarship. Salomes work has been mentioned and published in Another Magazine, Grazia, Hedonist , WWD and VEIN magazine.

Mixing high fashion with craftmanship Salome interned as a designer at the womenswear runway department at Burberry and thereafter in shoemaking at KUMLA skoindustrimuseeum. The connection between high fashion and the importance of craft tradition continues to sit at the core of Salomes work.

Born into a crafty family in the south of Sweden and anchored in a deep fascination for creation and the creative process, Salomes curiosity to explore has led her to a wide skillset in visual creating. In 2017, Salome spent the summer interning at the weaver Elisabeth Johansson, where she learnt traditional weaving, rya weave and ribbonmaking. In 2015-2016, Salome studied both a patternconstruction course and a milinier weekend course at Tillskärarakademin Göteborg. In 2014, she interned at KAPITÄN design studio, doing interior and product design and in 2013, she interned at AleZK (glas artist) learning the technique of ‘Tiffany’.

Salome Kappelin ATELIER designs are featured in artist-producer smiling LIS music videos ”RITUALS” and ”RISING” which were directed and edited by Salome Kappelin in close colaboration with smiling LIS.

Salome is the creative director and co-founder of the streetwear brand ’D.S.MVMNT WEAR’ ( desertseamvmnt.art ), portraying poetry by Liselotte Östblom through the graphics of Salome Kappelin.

Except Fashion, Salome works with Graphic Design, Painting, Set Design, Fine art and Filmmaking and has directed three musicvideos featuring garments and set design by Salome Kappelin. Since 2020, Salome is working closely with the London based Producer and Vocalist Liselotte Östblom/smilingLIS, where she manages the visual side of their colaborative work.
